Science Week- Day 5 Seeing how liquids float and sink

We learnt a bit about density today! We put some golden syrup in a large glass, then some vegetable oil, and lastly some water (that had blue food colouring in it!) Surprisingly the blue water sunk below the oil. It looked awesome! We then tried to float different things from around the classroom- a large glass marble sunk all the way, A small flat marble sat on the golden syrup, as did a paper clip. A counter sat on the water.

  1. Today was cool Mrs Brieseman first put golden syrup in a glass cup and then next she got water and put it in a ice cream container and she put blue colouring ink in the water. She put the water in the cup and then she got some oil and put some in and finally she tested some heavy stuff and light stuff.By phoenix

  2. It was funny that the oil went up through the water and sat on top. Really cool colours and things that floated were different to what I thought would.

First of all we grabed a jar, golden syrup, a cup, water and cooking oil.We put golden syrup into the cup and water on top.Above the water was the cooking oil. Then we had to grab heavy and light things and see if they sunk or floated through the ingredients.
