Red and Black Day- Fundraising for St James School

Room 5 and Room 8 put their heads together to organise a 'Red and Black' Day for St James School in Aranui, Christchurch. This is a school that was badly hit with the earthquake back in February. They have only now just opened up again. Kids have been travelling to other schools while they waited for their school to be usable again.

We had an awesome time fundraising today. A huge coin trail saying "Kia Kaha Christchurch", Building challenges, Sand pictures, Cup cakes, Liquefaction pud (jelly and chocolate mousse) to name a few things.
The whole school got behind this venture and we raised about $430! A huge effort from our small school!! Nice work everyone! We are so proud of you!! Kia Kaha Hampton Hill!!

  1. Awesome work guys! I am from Chch (Carol's cousin) and I know all your hard work and efforts will be HUGELY appreciated by everyone at St James School. What a kind and thoughtful group you are. Every little bit counts down here, and your fundraising will go a long way for the school. Well done - you're simply awesome!!! Gill

  3. A message from Jo Barlow to pass onto to you:

What a fantastic effort your class has put in for us. We were delighted to hear from your wonderful teacher and to be able to see what you were doing. When the children come back from holiday they will write on your blog as well. We have most of our children back now and they are really happy to be back at school. We are still getting some after shocks and power cuts but all are coping with them better now. We have been really delighted by the thoughtfulness of others and really appreciate the fact that you were able to use the fundraising as a learning experience too. I would much rather your kind of liquefaction, than what ended up in my garden! Many thanks and best wishes to you all. Jo Barlow Principal St James School
